ALICE MAY HARRIS
HARRIS, ALICE MAY - Of Little Ridge, NB died peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital on September 8, 2003. She was born in Vanceboro, Maine in 1920 and was the daughter of the late John and Mabel Swaney and wife of the late Clarence Monk and the late William Harris. Alice graduated from Vanceboro High School and then attended Richards Private School for Girls in Auburn, Maine graduating with a business degree. She was self employed as the owner of Monk's Texaco and Duty Free Shop in Maine and also of Eight Acre Cabins in McAdam, NB. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters and Legion Auxiliary in Vanceboro, Maine. Alice is survived by two sons, Richard Monk (Theresa) of Vanceboro, Maine and William Monk (Stacey) of Hollywood, Florida, one daughter Brenda VanHorne (Sherman) of Little Ridge, NB, one brother John Swaney of West Hartford, Connecticut, seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother Elmer Swaney and one sister Helen Cropley. Following cremation a graveside service will be held in the Vanceboro Cemetery at a time to be announced.
