DAVID A. (PORKY) GIFFORD
GIFFORD, DAVID A. (PORKY) - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 18, 2003 David A. (Porky) Gifford of the Carleton-Kirk Lodge and formerly of Green Head Road, Saint John West, husband of the late Elizabeth (Williams) Gifford. Born in Milford on September 27, 1911 he was the son of the late James and Theresa (Clarke) Gifford. Mr. Gifford had his own gang and retired as a Longshoreman in 1977, and he was a member of the I.L.A. Local 273. He was a chairman of the Randolph Liberal Association in his earlier years. He is survived by two sons James of Saint John West, Raymond Vautour and his wife Maria of Grand Bay-Westfield, two daughters Nancy Bourgeois and her husband George, Valerie Desjardins and her husband Hermel, one brother H.C. (Nick) Gifford and his wife Helen, sister-in-law Lillian Gifford all of Saint John West, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, brother Frank, sisters Dorothy Ricker, Veronica Randall and Ellen Babineau. Resting at the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue (634-1701). A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Rose of Lima Church Milford Road on Monday September 22, 2003 at 10:30am. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Visiting at "Fallsview" on Saturday and Sunday September 20 and 21, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, I.W.K. Hospital, Carleton-Kirk Lodge or the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Following the interment a reception will take place at the "Fallsview" Family Reception Center.
