BESSIE BERTHA MATTHEWS
MATTHEWS, BESSIE BERTHA - Bessie Bertha Matthews of Riverview, formerly of Anagance, NB, age 83, passed away Monday September 29, 2003 after a brief illness, surrounded by her family at The Moncton Hospital. Born October 4, 1919 in Anagance, NB, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Melinda (Henderson) Stockton. Bessie loved to read about the Royal Family and all needlework. Playing the piano and she had a passion for quilting. She loved all family gatherings, particularly at Christmas. She is survived by two sons; Frank (Mary) and Roger (Joyce) all of Moncton, a sister; Della Graham (Elwood) of Harvey Station and a twin sister; Bertha Spencer (Roy) of Beverly, Mass., four grandchildren; Linda, Tony, Valerie and Susan, four great grandchildren; Robin, Andrew, Lindsay and Jillian, who gave her so much joy. As well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Harding Matthews, six brothers Andrew, Wiley, Orman, Guy, Fred and Richard, and two sisters Greta and Hazel. Visiting hours will be held from Armstrong's Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, N.B. on Wednesday from 7-9. The funeral will be held from the Armstrong's Funeral Home on Thursday October 2, 2003 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. Burial will be held in The Goshen Baptist Cemetery.
