New Glasgow Patterson, Hilda Vivian, of Stellarton passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at the Glen Haven Manor, New Glasgow. Born March 6, 1916 in Sydney, N.S., Hilda was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Brown, and the last surviving member of her family. Hilda lived all her married life in Stellarton. She worked alongside her husband Pat in their dry-cleaning business and then became a homemaker. She was active in the community by supporting her church, volunteering at Glen Haven Manor and fundraising for various organizations. She was a founding member of the local Albion Chapter of the IODE and was active in the Stellarton Curling Club. She is survived by her son, Paul (Ann Marie), Upper Tantallon; she was a loving ‘Nannie’ to Sarah Patterson, Edmonton, and Andrew Patterson, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew ‘Pat’ Patterson and her siblings, Wally Brown, Irene Stewart and Margaret Walker, formerly Margaret Hubley. The family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. Thursday evening in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Hilda may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
