J. LLOYD McALLISTER
McALLISTER, J. LLOYD - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 17, 2003, J. Lloyd McAllister of Lorneville, husband of Audrey (O'Neil) McAllister. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Campbell) McAllister. Lloyd worked for Trecartin Bros. for over 35 years as a salesman, then as sales manager until 1975 then he and two others purchased the company. Lloyd was appointed Vice President. He was active in sports and was an avid horseman. He attended schools in Lorneville and West Saint John, continuing his secondary education at Saint John High School and Vocational School. He was a member of the Lorneville United Church taking an active part having been Sunday School Superintendant and an elder as well. He was very active in the Orange Lodge Mount Purple #29 and was a past president of the County of Saint John L.O.L, a member of the Royal Scarlet Chapter, a member of the Royal Purple Preceptory of #62 and also a member of Courtney L.O.L #8. He received his 50 year pin from Mount Purple L.O.L #29. In 1952 he was elected as a Councillor for the Parish of Lancaster and took his seat as a member of the Municipal Council, a position he held for a period of 16 years until he became a member of the Common Council following Amalgamation on January 1, 1967. He worked hard for the construction of U.N.B. Saint John, the completion of the Harbour Bridge and contracts for the Saint John Dry Dock. In 1971 he was appointed to the New Brunswick Motor Carrier Board for 17 years. He has always been active politically for the Progressive Conservative Party. In 1981 he was appointed a member of the Power Commission of the City of Saint John. He served for a period of three years at which time he then became Deputy Chairman of the Board. Surviving in addition to his wife Audrey are two sons Keith and Kevin and his wife Sherry Wilson, two daughters Darlene Pollock and her husband Terrance of Campbellton, Lana Mott and her husband Gary of Saint John, two brothers Bev and his wife Marilyn and Everett and his wife Melvina both of Lorneville. Six grandchildren Brent and Jillian Pollock, Corey and Jennifer McAllister and Andrew and Angela Mott. Predeceased by an infant son, Paul Lloyd. Resting at the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701). Funeral service will be held at the "Fallsview" Chapel on Thursday November 20, 2003 at 1 pm. Interment in the Lorneville Cemetery. Visiting at "Fallsview" on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. An Orange Lodge Service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 7 pm.
