WILLIAM (BILL) JOHN HAYES
HAYES, WILLIAM (BILL) JOHN - William (Bill) John Hayes passed away at his residence, Petitcodiac, on Thursday, November 20, 2003. Born November 9, 1921 in Kincardine, ON a son of the late William E. and Charlotte E. (Bradley) Hayes. Bill was a fireman in his early years. He and Dyson Waterbury tried to make firefighting easier and safer. Bill later operated his own business and was a top notch mechanic whom everyone liked and respected. He was employed at Lounsbury Co. Ltd. until he retired in 1986. Together with Gordon McLaughlin and Charles Holt, they were responsible for founding the Glenvale Golf Course and Club House. Bill was past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 41, Petitcodiac, who will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7:15pm and past master of the Steven Masonic Lodge No. 37 F&AM, who will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Friday at 7pm. Bill was an avid fisherman and loved the time he spent on the Miramichi. He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, June (Mann) Hayes, four children, Linda Burrows of Fredericton, Wendy (Bill) Cusack of Havelock, Robert (Donna) of Havelock, Gregory (Sharon) of Sussex, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, six brothers, Earl, Samuel, James, Burton, Alvery, Harold, two sisters, Anne Marie, Beatrice, several nieces and nephews all of whom he loved. He was predeceased by brothers, Nathaneal, Charles, George, Nelson, sisters, Agnes, Bessie, Alice. Resting at Armstrong's Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac, with visiting hours on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 2pm from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Petitcodiac. A reception will follow the service in the church hall. Burial will be held in Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
