BURGESS, DOROTHY GRACE - After living courageously with cancer, Dorothy Grace Burgess (Horton) (Hebb) formerly of Saint John, N.B., passed away at her home in Green Valley, Arizona on Wed., Dec. 10, 2003. Born on January 31st, 1928 in Chester, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Mabel (Lantz) Chandler. Dorothy was a well-known hairdresser and beauty consultant in Saint John for many years, having operated Dorothy Horton Beauty Salons in both Saint John and Rothesay, as well as a consignment clothing store in uptown Saint John. She was an avid golfer; travelled extensively; and lived life vivaciously. She was a member of country clubs in Green Valley, Az and in Alto, N.M. where she and her husband spent the summers. She was a member of Desert Hills Lutheran Church in Green Valley, Az. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her husband and family and many, many friends. She is survived by her husband, William Burgess of Green Valley, Az; sons James (Patricia) Hebb, Hampton, N.B.; John (Gayle) Hebb, Prince George, B.C.; Paul (Terri) Horton, Hammond River, N.B.; daughters Gaye (Sid) Miller, Alto, NM; Linda (John) Snow, Hampton, N.B., 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren, as well as step-children Jeffrey (Leigh Ann) Burgess; Tommy Burgess; Debbie (Steve) Sessions; and their families in the US; twin sister Doris Meadow, Green Valley, Az; sister Edna Nauss, Halifax, N.S.; brother Walter Chandler, Chester, N.S. She was predeceased by husband, Donald Hebb and Frederic Horton, as well as brother Laurence Chandler. A memorial service will be held at Desert Hills Lutheran Church, Green Valley, Az on Tues., Dec. 16, 2003.
