Dec. 5, 1930-Sept. 21, 2008 Mill Creek Lawrence Marsh, 77, of Mill Creek, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sept. 21, 2008, at home, with his family and loved ones by his side. He was the son of the late John and Emma (Jessome) Marsh. He was a member of St. Joseph parish, Bras d’Or. Lawrence grew up in Mill Creek and spent many of his younger years sailing, then moved on to the coal mines (Devco), where he spent 28 years before retiring. He was an avid dart and card player and enjoyed spending time in his garden. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Bernadette (Forrest) Marsh; five sons, Kevin, Russell (Samantha), Lawrence (Jennifer), Keith, Troy (Joanne) and five daughters, Sheila (Tommy), Loretta (Eric), Wanda (Ron), Marlene (Rick) and Louise. He is also survived by his brothers, Theodore (Olive), Sylvester (Ella Mae), Louis (Norma), Peter (Betty) and sisters, Emiline Turner and Margaret Hamilton; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren that he loved dearly. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Regis, Marie, Marcella, Evelyn and brothers Wilfred, James, Gerald and Tommy. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or, Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. Donations in Lawrence’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of one’s choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome@ns.aliantzinc.ca.
