Ada MacKillop

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ada MacKillop, Monday, Sept. 22, 2008. Born in Middle River, Victoria County, she was the daughter of the late Norman D. and Muria (MacLeod) MacCharles, Upper Middle River. Ada was a graduate (1948) of Glace Bay General Hospital and practised her nursing profession in the Inverness and Baddeck hospitals. She was a member of Farquharson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Middle River, and a lifelong supporter of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. She is survived by her husband, Murdock, and son, John, both of Baddeck Bay; cousins, Florence (Maynard Burke), Muria (Neil MacVicar), Margaret (Bill Sullivan), Laura MacDonald, Christene (Allison MacLeod), Fred MacLeod, John MacDonald (Joan) and Sandy A.E. ‘Peggy’ MacLeod. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother in infancy and brother, John A. MacCharles. She was also predeceased by cousins, Alice Nicholson, Wilson MacDonald, Fred Ross, Eveline MacDonald, Isabelle Hamilton and John MacLeod. There will be no visitation at Ada’s request. Cremation to take place. The family committal service will be conducted by Rev. Lloyd Murdock in Highland Cemetery, Baddeck Bay, at 2 p.m., Sept. 24. Donations may be made in Ada’s memory to a charity of choice.
