GERALDINE (GERRI) MARY (WOOLRIDGE) McMAHON

McMAHON, GERALDINE (GERRI) MARY (WOOLRIDGE) - Geraldine (Gerri) Mary (Woolridge) McMahon of Fredericton, beloved wife of Mel McMahon, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 2003. She was a native of Howley, Newfoundland. Gerri was a Registered Nursing Assistant who served in that capacity for five years in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and seventeen years at Pine Grove Nursing Home in Fredericton. She also served as a volunteer with the local St. John Ambulance Brigade and the local chapter of Birthright. She was a member of St. Theresa's Parish, and St. Theresa' Catholic Women's League. In addition to her husband, Gerri is survived by her sons James and his wife Li-chun of Fremont, California, David and his fiancé Suzanne of Bedford, Nova Scotia; her daughters, Laura Hiscock and her husband Stephen of Lloydminster, Alberta, and Elizabeth McMahon of Bedford, Nova Scotia; grandchildren Kate, Leah, Karl, and Andrew Hiscock; brothers Scott Clarke and his wife Nina of Camrose, Alberta, and Charles Clarke of Toronto; sisters Phyllis Richmond of Peterborough, Ontario, Dulcey Noble and her husband Bert of Lethbridge, Alberta, Doreen Payne of Fogo, Newfoundland, and Bernice VanMil and her husband Ben of Millbrook, Ontario; and by several nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, Brookside Drive at Douglas Avenue, Fredericton North, on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 AM from St. Theresa's Church, William Street at Royal Road. Rev. John Jennings will be the Celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Anthony's Cemetery. The family wishes to express its heartfelt gratitude for the dedicated love and care shown to Gerri by the staff and physicians of the Oncology Department and the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital; and to Drs. Hussein, Grant, Giovannoni, Hauman, McKay, and Schaus. In lieu of flowers, an act of kindness and charity to others would be a fitting way to honour Gerri's memory.
