Date de décès : 27 septembre 2008
Sydney/Fredericton After many faithful years of serving her Lord and Saviour, M. Elizabeth (Betty) Tweedie was called to her heavenly reward, on the morning of Sept. 27, 2008, in Fredericton, N.B. Betty was born and raised in Pugwash, N.S., the youngest of five, born to Frederick Elias and Sarah (MacIntosh) King. She was a caring daughter who provided a home for her mother after the death of her father during ‘the Battle of Passchendaele’. She was proud of her father’s accomplishments as a decorated war veteran, displaying his medals in her residence. Betty was employed as a secretary in Amherst N.S., where she met and married her husband, Jack Tweedie in 1939. They later moved to Sydney where they resided and raised their family. Betty was a devoted mother to their three children and supported her husband in his career for many years. She maintained the family home after his death until circumstances arose leading to her move to Fredericton in 1999, where she happily resided with her daughter and family. As her health declined, she became a resident at York Manor, until her death. Betty will always be remembered for her love of her Saviour, her love of family and for her gentle quiet ways. She was a strong Christian woman who devoted her time and talents to Westminister Bible Presbyterian Church. She was also a strong supporter of missions and provided monetarily to the furtherance of this work. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Jack Earl, sister, Celia, brothers, Fred, Dick, Ewen and son-in-law, Jim MacInnis. She is survived by her children, Hugh and wife Sharon Tweedie, Bonnie and husband Tex (Wendell) Burris, Eric and wife Lynn Tweedie; grandchildren, Loran (Linda) Tweedie, Michelle (Maurice) Chiasson, Patricia Keagan, Craig (Paula) Tweedie, Janice MacInnis, Grant MacInnis (Kathleen McLaughlin) and Sarah (Jamie) Rae; great-grandchildren, Colin, Shannon and Daniel Tweedie, Laura, Katie and Paul Chiasson, Sarah Keagan, Holly LeBlanc, Dillon, David and Erin Tweedie, Benjamin and Andrew Grant Rae.
