Harold 'Howie' MacLeod

97, Glace Bay It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Harold ‘Howie’ MacLeod, 97, on Sept. 27, 2008, at the Cove Guest Home. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of Roderick and Dorothy (Grant) MacLeod. Harold was employed at S&L Railway as an engineer. He was a member of Knox United Church and Branch 12 Royal Canadian Legion, Sydney. Harold also served overseas in Malta. Harold is survived by daughter, Joan Morrison; and two sons, Harold William, Sydney, and Fred Roderick, Vancouver, B.C. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren Harold was predeceased by his first wife, Victoria MacLeod and his second wife, Jenie Hodder. Harold was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters. Visitation for the late Harold MacLeod will take place Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1 in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with Nancy Whitney officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Grand Lake Road.
