Robert 'Bob' Lewis

67, Whitney Pier Bob Lewis, 67, of East Broadway, Whitney Pier, passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, at home. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Archibald and Mary (McCarthy) Lewis and brought up by his stepmother, the late Elizabeth (Penny) Lewis. Bob was a retired employee of Cape Breton Regional School Board as a bus driver and a well-known musician. He was best known as a singer and bass player with the Carlton Showband and the local band, Tradewinds. He was a member of Holy Redeemer parish, Whitney Pier. Bobby will be sadly missed by his wife, Erin (O’Rourke) Lewis; son, Aaron (Karen); daughter, April (John) Halliday; four special grandchildren, Jordan, Martina, Makenzie and Bethany; many musical friends, extended family and all “his kids”. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Pheifer and his twin brother, Billy. Bobby will be sadly missed and always remembered. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel today (Saturday) and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent to the family at sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca
