STANLEY HOWARD LONG

LONG, STANLEY HOWARD - The death of Stanley Howard Long of Lakeside, husband of Mary (Dunn) Long occurred February 1, 2004 at his residence. He was born at Bloomfield, son of the late Herbert and Rebecca (Mercer) Long. Stan was a past member of Hampton Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion; Ridge Runners Band; Upper Reflections Band; Hampton Hoe Downers; Westfalia Owners Travel Club; and Hampton Seniors. Stan was a Police Officer with the Saint John City Police Force from 1949 - 1961. He then was a Labour Foreman and Assistant Warden at Fundy National Park until 1970 when he moved to Nova Scotia and operated a service station until 1974. He then moved to Hampton and drove a school bus until retiring in 1985. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Stanley Jr. of Titusville; one step-son, Richard Sturgeon of New Zealand; one brother, Silas Long (Freda) of Bloomfield Ridge; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Wednesday at Reid's Funeral Home Chapel with service at 1:00 pm. Interment in Big Rock Cemetery in the spring. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. Visiting 2-4pm and 7-9pm Tuesday.
