94, Halifax Georgie Hanington Weatherby, 94, Halifax, died Oct. 4, 2008, in the St. Vincent’s Nursing Home, Windsor Street. Born in Sydney, C.B., she was the daughter of the Late Nelson and Muriel (Boomer) Kennedy. Georgie worked for the N.S. Provincial Government in the departments of Health and Lands and Forests. She was also a sergeant in the Reserve Army, Victoria Park, Sydney. She travelled throughout Canada and the U.S. and spent many winters in Florida where she enjoyed swimming and playing bridge. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Mike) Watts, Houston, Tex.; sons, Charles (Doris) Weatherby, Dartmouth, N.S., Nelson Weatherby, Ottawa, Ont.; niece, Karen (Robert) Angel, Amherst, N.S.; and nephew, Keith MacDonald, Sydney, N.S. Georgie was predeceased by her husband, George W. Weatherby (1957), sisters, Margaret, Gertrude, Elma, Norma and Bette, and daughter-in-law, Carole (MacDonald) Weatherby (2004). No visitation by request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Burial will take place at a later date in Sydney, N.S.
