HAROLD EVERETT BARNES

BARNES, HAROLD EVERETT - Harold E. Barnes, 91, of York Manor, Fredericton, went home to be with his Lord, on Sunday, February 22, 2004. Born at McDonald's Point, NB, he was the son of the late David and Nellie (Lewis) Barnes. Harold was employed for several years, as manager, with Agnew-Surpass Shoe Company, leaving in 1941 to join the Canadian Armed Forces, serving in Canada and overseas. Upon discharge in 1945, he rejoined his old firm, managing several stores in Toronto. In 1962 he opened his own store (Harold Barnes Fine Footwear) in Donwood Plaza, Toronto. Harold retired in 1982 and six years later, in 1988, he and Lena moved to Fredericton. He was a member of Grace Memorial United Baptist Church. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lena (Boyd) Barnes, brother Lawrence and Lilly, McDonald's Point, nieces and nephews; Marilyn and Ron Revelle, Oromocto, Gary and Susan Barnes, Hampton, Elaine and Brian Vroom, Fredericton, Randy Barnes and Betty, McDonald's Point, Stephanie and Mike Vautour, Kiersteadville, Aaron Barnes, Moncton, Heather Burns, Valerie and Robert Witterick, Bill and Gail Masson, all of Toronto, and others whose names are not available, several great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends Allen and Bonnie Hatfield, Fredericton. He was predeceased by brothers, William, Walter, Lewis, and Lloyd. Resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home, (839-2156) Norton, with visiting Wednesday 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Sherwood's Chapel, Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in McDonald's Point Cemetery. www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
