KENNETH (KEN) A. WEAVER

WEAVER, KENNETH (KEN) A. - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by his family on, Wednesday, February 25th, 2004, following a period of failing health; Kenneth Albert Weaver, husband of Shirley (Burgess) Weaver of West Saint John, NB. Born in Saint John, He is the son of the late Mildred M. (Craft) and George H. Weaver. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II, Serving with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion which jumped behind enemy lines during the D-Day Invasion. After the war he served in the Militia, achieving the rank of Lieutenant. Kenneth was employed with the Dept. of Veterans Affairs for 39 years, as a Welfare Officer retiring in 1985. Kenneth was a lifetime member of the Golden K Club and was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #69. Kenneth was an avid gardener and enjoyed traveling. Surviving in addition to his wife Shirley are his son Bruce and wife Jane of West Saint John, and grandchildren Christopher, Jeffrey, and Matthew, sister Marjorie O'Toole, brother, Norman both of West Saint John, and brother Donald of Windsor, Ont. and his aunt Mary, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Kenneth was predeceased by brothers Harold, Frederick and sister Joan. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, West Saint John, NB (506-634-1701) from where the service will be held in the chapel on Sunday February 29, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. The Interment will take place later in the spring in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow the service in the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
