GORDON A. - 1914 NEILSON

NEILSON, GORDON A. - 1914 - 2004. Gordon A. Neilson of The Veterans Health Center, and formerly of Frampton Lane and Church Street, died at his residence on February 27, 2004 of natural causes. Born in Saint John, NB he spent most of his youth in the St. John River Valley, principally at Hampstead. He was the son of the late Alice Penny of Newfoundland and John Neilson of Denmark. He moved to Moncton in the early 1930's to work in his father's business, a wholesale fish operation. Gordon and his brother, Dolph, eventually took over the operation of the family business and sold it on their retirement about 30 years ago. Gordon served in World War II in the Royal Canadian Service Corps, 66th General Transport Company. He served in Canada, England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. When he was demobilized, he had reached the rank of Sargeant. He is survived by his daughter Linda Boudreau of Riverview, son-in-law George Boudreau, grandson Andrew and a brother John of Moncton. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife Ida (Caissie), sister Doris, and brother Dolph. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Fairhaven Memorial Gardens.
