84, North SydneyIt is with great sadness we announce the passing of the our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, Keith Jackson, age 84, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Fred and Frances (Logan) Jackson of Seaview Drive, North Sydney. Keith was manager and owner of Whitman’s Men’s Wear, North Sydney for 50 years. He was a member of the North Sydney Garden Club and was an avid skater and walker for many years. Keith cherished his time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought such joy to his life. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, North Sydney. His faith in the Lord gave him great strength throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, Mildred (MacKenzie) Jackson; his daughter, Marion (Sandy) Robinson, North Sydney; and his son, Fred (Sue) Jackson, Tupelo, Miss.; four grandchildren Dave, Steve, Valerie and Megan; three great-grandchildren, Chauntel, Danae and Kadyn; a brother, Doug Jackson, Vancouver; and a sister, Irene Elson, Ottawa; also his sister-in-law, Ethel (Elliott) Anderson, North Sydney; brothers-in-law, George (Mary) MacKenzie, North Sydney, Dr. Gordon (Mae) MacKenzie, Boularderie, and Rev. Gilmour (Eleanor) MacKenzie, Fredericton. He was predeceased by a daughter, Heather and a brother, Harold. There will be no visitation. A celebration of Keith’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Hannem officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
