80, Sydney Roy Maxwell Cooper, 80, Mechanic Street, Sydney, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Vardy) Cooper. Roy was a member of First United Church, Sydney, and before retirement was employed at Sydney Steel. Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Patty Walsh, Sydney; sisters, Ollie Kilgar, Dartmouth, Shirley Grey, Brandon, Man., and Alice Gillis, Sydney; and several nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his wife, Mabel, son, Blair Walsh, sister, Sadie Rolfe, brothers, Harold and Lawrence. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at First United Church with Rev. Wade Reppart officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
