SHIRLEY E. BURLOCK
BURLOCK, SHIRLEY E. - Shirley E. Burlock, 166 Houlton Road, Woodstock, New Brunswick, passed peacefully away on Friday, April 2, 2004 at Carleton Manor. She was born at Mount Pleasant, NB, and was the daughter of the late Millen and Edna (Drake) Hawthorne. Shirley married George R. Burlock on October 18, 1947, and they resided at Mount Pleasant during their entire married life. She was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Baptist Church, serving as Church Clerk for many years, and was a Dominion Member of the Women's Missionary Society, a member of the Women's Institute, and the Mount Pleasant Senior Heritage Club. Shirley moved to Woodstock in August, 1994, and attended the Woodstock Baptist Church, and was a member of the Helen Good Women's Missionary Society and the Ladies' Quilting Group. Shirley was the beloved mother of son Roger and his wife Susan and granddaughters Danielle and Catherine of St. John's,, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is also survived by a sister, Erma Phillips of Woodstock, and a brother, Gilbert Hawthorne and his wife Norma of Stickney. Also surviving is a brother-in-law Wendell Burlock and his wife Olive of Fonthill, Ontario, and sisters-in-law Madeline Burlock of Burlington, Ontario, Elzena Clarke of Chatham, Ontario, and Marjorie Burlock of Bristol, NB. Shirley is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece Shirley Hovey. Shirley was predeceased by her husband, George on January 19, 1981; by sisters Muriel and Leola; and by a brother, Ercel. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock on Sunday, April 4, 2004, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at the Mount Pleasant United Baptist Church. Rev. Leonard Cousins and Rev. Craig Woodcock will officiate. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Hartland, beside her husband George, at a later date. www.scottfh.com
