REV. DARRELL METZLER
METZLER, REV. DARRELL - Ba, MDiv. - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, April, 11th, 2004; Rev. Darrell Metzler of Rothesay, NB. Born in Campbellton, NB he was the son of the late Alvin and Marion (Addison) Metzler. A graduate of Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB, Bachelor of Arts, 1954 and Pine Hill Divinity Hall, Halifax, Master of Divinity, 1956. In June of that year he was ordained to the ministry of the United Church of Canada by the Maritime Conference of the United Church and served in that capacity for 37 years until he retired to Fairvale/Rothesay in December 1993. He served the following churches/Pastoral charges, in Saint John Presbytery - St. Martins and Park Avenue United, in Truro Presbytery, Brunswick Street United, Truro, NS and Woolastook Presbytery, Oromocto United Church. He also served at the Presbytery level as Chair and Secretary of all three Presbyteries in which he ministered. At the conference level he was the United Church representative to the Atlantic Ecumenical Council for many years. He was Commissioner to two meetings of the General Council of the United Church. Darrell is survived by his sister Judith Trevors (Merl) of Ottawa, Ontario, one nephew David, two nieces Natalie and Wendy, one great nephew Matthew, two great nieces Catherine and Lauren. Resting at Castle "Kings Chapel" Funeral Home, 154 Hampton Road, Rothesay, NB (506-849-1702) from where the visitation will be held on Thursday from 7-9 pm only. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April, 16th, 2004 at 2:00 pm at St. David's United Church, Rothesay, NB. A reception will immediately follow in the church hall. The interment will take place at a later date in Campbellton, NB. Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or charity of the donors' choice.
