GATES, WILLIAM GORDON - Mr. William Gordon Gates, husband of Jean (Haines) Gates of 236 Edward St., Miramichi passed Tuesday morning at Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Madoc, ON, he was the son of the late Edwin and Myrtle (Ashe) Gates. He was a retired geologist of the former Heath Steel Mines and a member of St. James & St. John's United Church, Miramichi. Besides his wife, Jean, he is survived by two daughters; Kim Lehnert (Tom) of Miramichi; Cynthia Russell (Todd) of Miramichi; two sons; William Donald (Billy) Gates (Adrienne) of Saint John; Allan Gates (Donna) of Halifax; seven grandchildren; Sarah, Robby, Colleen, Ashley, Marley, Bridget and Owen. Predeceased by his parents, one daughter Susan. Mr. William Gordon Gates is resting at Davidson's Funeral Home, 597 Old King George Highway, Miramichi, NB with visitation on Thursday, April 22nd from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from St. James & St. John's United Church, Miramichi, with Rev. Sandrabelle Rogers officiating. Burial in Miramichi cemetery later in the spring.
