91, North Sydney It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Elliott Anderson, age 91, Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at his residence at upper North Sydney. Born in Burgeo, Nfld., Elliott was the son of the late Aaron and Mahala (Prosser) Anderson. Elliott was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Pictou Highlanders. Following the war he worked as a machinist for Atlantic Spring & Machine until his retirement in 1981. Elliott was an active member of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, as a church elder and a member of the AOTS men’s club. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching baseball and hockey and playing both in earlier years. His greatest joy was his family and he loved spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Ethel (MacKenzie) Anderson; his son, Carl (Debbie) Anderson, Sydney River; and his two precious granddaughters, Kayleigh and Kate; his sister, Sybil Anderson and nephew, Artie, North Sydney; and sister-in-law, Dea Anderson. He was predeceased by brothers, Russell, William, Lawrence, Roy and Carl Anderson and a sister, Dorothy Black. Visitation for Elliott will be held today (Wednesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service to be held 2 p.m., Thursday at St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, with Rev. David Luker officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to St. Matthew Wesley United Church or the Northside Civic Centre.
