ROONEY, GEORGE F. - The death of George F. Rooney, loving husband of the late Florence C. (Kelly) Rooney, of West Saint John, occurred on Tuesday May 4, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1914 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Patrick A. and Sarah (Gallagher) Rooney. George was a Senior Alter Server for St. Rose de Lima Church for many years. He is survived by his loving children Thomas (Karen) of Saint John, Catherine Nowlan of Cambridge Narrows, Paul (Jacqueline) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Michael (Barbara) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Dorothy of Saint John, David (Sylvie) of Quispamsis, Daniel (Betty) of Acamac and James (Danielle) of Grand Bay-Westfield; one sister Madeline O'Leary of Saint John; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Gerard, James L., William, Edward Thomas, Hugh Daniel, Edward Vincent and Thomas; one sister Mary Agnes Geneau. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday May 5, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Rose de Lima Church on Thursday May 6, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
