Baddeck It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Alexander John Shaw, 87, of Baddeck on Oct. 28, 2008, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Neil and Cassie (Dawson) Shaw. He was employed for 25 years with Bethune Esso and the Department of Natural Resources. He was a member of Greenwood United Church, Baddeck. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, the former Mary C. MacInnis; sons, Dan Neil (Kaye), Rhybyrn (Debby), Kenneth (Gwynn), Jamie (Charlene); daughter, Catherine; brother-in-law, Kenneth Morrison, Sydney; sister-in-law, Doreen Shaw, Ontario; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brother, Donnie, sister, Helen, three great-grandchildren in infancy. Visitation 2-5 and 7-9 p.m., Saturday in MacAskill Funeral Home, Baddeck. Funeral 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, in Greenwood United Church, Rev. Karen Lynch officiating. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery. Family flowers only by request.
