DICKESON, JEAN MAY - The death of Jean May Dickeson of Fredericton, wife of the late Hugh B. Dickeson, occurred at home on Sunday June 6, 2004. Born in Baker Brook NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Wilhelmina (MacKenzie) Birnie. A sports enthusiast, she was a past president of the Edmundston Golf Club (Ladies Section), NB Ladies Golf Association, Canadian Ladies Golf Association and NB Ladies Curling Association. She was inducted into the Edmundston Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 and the NB Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. Jean is survived by her son, John A. Weatherhead (Gisele) of Fredericton; daughters Penny Dickeson and Debbi Dickeson both of Fredericton; sister Jessie Rice (Chuck) of Chittenango NY; grandchildren John T. Weatherhead (fiancée Rachel LeBlanc) and Sandra MacLean (John); great granddaughter Madison MacLean; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her first husband Lieutenant John J. Weatherhead and brothers Bill and George Birnie. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton North, on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and at J.B. Cote & Sons Ltd, Edmundston on Thursday from 2 - 4 PM.
