81, Cornwallis, NS Fraser MacDonald passed away suddenly at his home in Cornwallis Park, Digby County, on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008. Born in Montreal and growing up in Westmount, Cape Breton, he was the eldest son of the late John D. and Effie (MacLean) MacDonald. After graduating from Sydney Academy, Fraser left home to seek a career in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Upon his retirement from the air force, he worked for the National Research Council in Ottawa, until he reached his retirement. He was a member of the Lions Club in Ottawa and the Royal Canadian Legion in Clementsport, N.S. He and his wife Paulette chose to return to Nova Scotia and 10 years ago settled in Cornwallis Park where they found good neighbours and numerous friends. Fraser is survived by his wife, Paulette (Mercier); son, Stephan (Stephanie) and his grandson, Jesse. Also surviving are his brothers, Rev. James A. (Gwen), Saint John, N.B., Rev. Ian K. (Virginia), Fredericton, N.B. and his sister, Sheila (Rev. Jackie) MacDonald, Coxheath. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Rose and his daughter, Joanne. Cremation has taken place with burial at a later date. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008 at 2 p.m. in the Jaynes Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby. Family flowers only, memorials may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Society or to a charity of choice.
