O'CONNELL (HOPEY), ETTA J.- The death of Etta Jean (Hopey) O'Connell, of 35 Celebration Street, Saint John, wife of the late J. Louis O'Connell, occurred on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Iletta Gladys (MacDonald) Hopey. Mrs. O'Connell was formerly employed with G. E. Barbour and with the Province as a Court Stenographer and later was the Business Manager with Sun Life Insurance, until her retirement. She is survived by one daughter, Lindi Amirault (Paul) of Saint John, one brother, George Hopey (Eleanor) of Loch Lomond, one sister, Helen Folkins of Saint John, brother-in-law, Willard Causey of Saint John West, two cherished grandchildren, Lesa Bailey (David) and Scott Amirault, both of Saint John and one dearly loved great grand daughter, Emily Bailey, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore (Twitch) and Joseph Hopey, three sisters, Frances Causey, Anne Hopey and Laura Hopey and brother-in-law, Earl Folkins. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 25, 2004 at 2:15 PM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery.
