ALBERT (ABBIE) H. BREEN

BREEN, ALBERT (ABBIE) H. - Passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Sunday, June 27, 2004, following a brief illness. He was born in Petersville, NB on September 30, 1916. He was an ardent member of the Assumption parish in West Saint John for over 60 years. Abbie was an amateur radio lover ("VE1ANW") and a long time radio and TV repairman; he was employed until retirement by CHSJ-TV as a technician at Mount Champlain, NB. He truly enjoyed music and played the accordion in his younger days at dances in Petersville. He is survived by four sons, Harold (Sharon) of Saint John, Gerald (Glorena) of Dartmouth, NS, Paul (Bev) of Edmonton, Alberta, Michael (Judy) of Halifax, NS and one daughter Mary Lou Conley (Brian) of Saint John; seven grandchildren: Tony, Maura, Kevin, Meaghan & Andrew Breen, Nicole & Cheryl Conley; three step-grandchildren: Brent, Gillian & Peter Woodford; and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Pat and Annie (Casey) Breen, his wife of 53 years, Eleanor (McCarthy) and his older brother George Breen. Resting at Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701). Visiting hours will be Tuesday, June 29th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm; the funeral mass to celebrate Abbie's life will be Wednesday at noon from the Church of the Assumption, with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donors' choice. A reception will follow at the "Fallsview" Family Reception Centre.
