DORIS EDITH PAGE

PAGE, DORIS EDITH - It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, beloved wife of the late Cyril Page Sr., on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at the age of 82. Mom was born on November 2, 1922 or 1921, depending on which government agency you consulted, in Saint John at the homestead at 144 Garnett Road where she resided for most of her entire life. When she was eighteen years old, she married our father, taking on the responsibility of his three young children from Dad's previous wife who had passed away - Donald Trevor, now deceased; Marge Page Roberts of Queenstown; and Cyril Jr. (Rita) of Golden, BC. She then proceeded to have four children of her own - Herbert (Alma) of Queenstown, Richard (Marjorie) of Saint John, David (Kathy) of Miramichi, and Heather (Louis) of Saint John. Besides raising these children, she also had her many pets - goats, chickens, dogs and cats - most recent of those was Midge, Tigger, and Snoopy, who gave her great joy to watch when she was confined to her home, during the cold Saint John weather. She enjoyed excellent health, being a member of the TOPS group for over twenty years, as well as a member of Willing Hands and later the 50 plus club at Forest Hills Baptist Church. When a leg injury, along with heart complications curtailed her walking with her buddies, Jean Atkinson and Jean Gray, we knew she had to slow down. But no matter what we did, we would catch her vacuuming, making beds and cooking for the two teenage boys who enjoyed her hospitality for the last nine months - her grandson, Josh and friend, Corey. She wanted to see this same grandson graduate which he did on Monday night and she promptly went in the hospital the next morning at 10 am. Our thanks to the wonderful staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Your compassion was very appreciated during her many "day spas" at your facility. Her resilience after each visit was due in part to the excellent care she received from you. You are wonderful, caring people. Being the only child of the late Edward and Hazel (Lounsbury) Garnett, she did well to carry on the legacy with 17 grandchildren, 21 1/2 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. As per her wishes, there will be no viewing, but there will be a memorial service at Forest Hills Baptist Church on McAllister Drive on Tuesday, June 29 at 10 am. A reception will follow at her daughter's house at 100 Garnett Road. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of your choice would be appreciated. A private interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens will be held at a later date, where she will be laid to rest with our dad, who is dancing a jig because she's with him now. We miss you both and will always love you. God bless you and keep you until we all meet again!! Arrangements are under the direction of A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) www.awcavanagh.com
