Angela Meaney AMHERST - Surrounded by her loving family, Angela Meaney, age 40 of Amherst, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday, April 10, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Sharon (Ripley) Gagnon. A graduate of Amherst Regional High School, Mount Allison, Holland College and NSCC, she was employed with Family and Children Services of Cumberland Co. for 12 years. A member of the Holy Family Parish, she served on the Finance Committee and was active in many aspects of the life of the church. An outdoor enthusiast, she liked to run and was instrumental in forming a hiking club. In May, 2007 she ran in the “Bluenose International Marathon”, Halifax, and in July she completed the “Not Since Moses Marathon” in Five Islands. She enjoyed games nights with her family and friends. Angela will be sadly missed by her children, Chris, Gillian and step-daughter Whitney Rose; brothers and sister, Richard and Mark Gagnon and Lori Clayton; father of her children, Stephen Meaney; special friend, David MacDonald; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law, Michelle Gagnon; fellow co-workers with Family and Children Services (who have supported her through her final journey); and her friends too numerous to mention. Angela’s remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 68 Church Street, (667-8777) Amherst, from where a time of visitation will be held, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the Holy Family Parish Church on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at 10 a.m. Burial in the St. Charles - Nativity Cemetery in the spring.
