VALERIE ANNE McCOY
McCOY, VALERIE ANNE - It is with great sorrow that the family of Val McCoy announce her death. Valerie died on Tuesday, July 27th surrounded by her loving family, after a brave personal fight against leukemia. Val was the much beloved wife of John and the adored mother of Cheryl (Rob Murray), Andrew (Julianne) and Ian (Carolyn). She was known as the Nanny "who played" to her grandchildren. Our thirteen grandchildren will have a wonderful legacy of her loving disposition to remember. A daughter of the late John and Florence Wakelam she was born in Birkenhead, England in 1939. Her brothers, John and Derek, predeceased her. She was a woman with infinite patience, full of fun and enjoyed life with love and laughter. Val brought a sense of enthusiasm to everything she took part in. Her friends in the Denim Beat will remember her line dancing with them, and without them, on the stage of the Imperial. An avid bowler, she enjoyed many years bowling with the Hampton Ladies Bowling League. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Lord Beaverbrook Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, an organization she loved and admired. She looked forward to going to her own Chapter, and many others, to meet with her sisters and brothers within the Order. Summers spent at TNT Campground, with our friends, brought great happiness to her. Never one to stand on ceremony Val loved the easy-going atmosphere and lifestyle of camping. Her earthly remains have been cremated and her spirit lives on. There will be visitation at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton on Wednesday, July 28th from 7-9pm and on Thursday July 29th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Lord Beaverbrook Chapter OES will conduct a Funeral Ceremony on Thursday, July 29th at 7pm at Reid's Funeral Home, Hampton. A Funeral Service will be held at St Paul's Anglican Church, Hampton on Friday, July 30th at 11am. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. During Val's illness she received many units of blood from the Canadian Blood Services. In memory of her name our friends and colleagues are asked to donate a unit of blood to help those in need. For those who wish donations can also be made to Hospice Saint John and Luxor Shriners Transportation Fund. Online donations and condolences may be made at: www.reidsfh.com
