ELDON R. LIBBY
LIBBY, ELDON R. - Eldon R. Libby 85 of Veteran's Health Care Center, Moncton and formerly of Riverview passed away at his residence on Tuesday July 6, 2004. Born in St. Stephen, son of the late Eldon and Sarah (Rolls) Libby. After returning from overseas where he served in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps he went to work for Ganong Brothers in St. Stephen, in the shipping room. In 1948, he moved to Moncton and worked for Ganong's as a commercial traveler, he had 35 years service at retirement. He then worked for the Corps of Commissionaires for 10 years. Eldon was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Riverview where he served on various boards in past years. He was active in the Masonic Order for over 50 years; he became a Mason in St. Stephen and later joined Coverdale Lodge #52 F&AM and served as Worshipful Master in 1968. He was appointed Senior Grand Worden of the Grand Lodge of N.B. He received the William G. Quinn Award from the Grand Lodge of N.B. He was a member of the Past Masters Unit and was made an honorary member. Also a member of The Lodge of Perfection and the Royal Order of Scotland. A member and past Patron of Fidelity Chapter #36 O.E.S. and served as Patron for two and half years. He was made an honorary member in Chapters in Havelock, Petitcodiac and Shediac. He was past Grand Patron of the Grand Chapter of N.B. (1989-90). A member and past president of the Moncton Shrine Club and a life member of Luxor Shrine Temple of Saint John. A member of the Moncton Legion Branch #6 and member of the Riverview Veteran's and Armed Forces where he received a life membership. Eldon will be sadly missed by his wife of over 55 years, Elizabeth (Liz) (Armstrong) Libby, daughter Patricia Wallace (Robert) Kitchener Ont.: son Gordon (Sandra) Vancouver B.C.: grandchildren Jack, Sarah, Kimberly and Jill: great-grandchildren Morgan and Matthew: sisters Lillian Hill Saint John: Jean Church (Bob), West Roxbury Mass.: nephew Bill Robinson: niece Susan Rose: several cousins. Pre-deceased by one sister Olive. No visitation hours by personal request. Sunday 6:45pm all at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home 1657 Mountain Rd. Moncton (858-1995). Funeral service at St. Paul's United Church, Riverview Monday August 23, 2pm, Rev. Shawn Redden officiating.
