JOHN (JACK) DOUGLAS McGOWAN
McGOWAN, JOHN (JACK) DOUGLAS - (1918-2004) John (Jack) Douglas McGowan formerly of Maces Bay, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Carleton Kirk Lodge on Saturday, August 21, 2004. Husband of the late Constance (Mawhinney) McGowan, he was born in Saint John, the son of the late William and May (McJunkin) McGowan. He was a Veteran of WWII, having served overseas with the Canadian Army and was a member of Branch 69 Royal Canadian Legion for over 50 years. He was a lifelong fisherman, member, past warden and vestryman of Trinity Anglican Church, Maces Bay. He was a member of Fundy Bay Senior Citizens Club and past Treasurer of the Maces Bay Cemetery Corp. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Anne Smythe (David) of Miramichi and Catherine Shea (Michael) of Maces Bay, daughter-in-law Alice McGowan of Maces Bay, sister-in-law Dolphene Chalmers of Fredericton, six grandchildren; Lori Anne Bass (Derrick), Julie Kazamer (Tibor), Carl McGowan, Craig McGowan (Amy), Adam Shea (Lori) and Kevin Shea. Nine great grandchildren Riley, Ryan, Jaden, Emma, Logan, Lily, Luke, Paige and Paul. Predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Constance, his son Paul and sister Marjorie Cassidy. The family will be receiving visitors at Trinity Anglican Church, Maces Bay on Sunday evening 7-9 pm and Monday, 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will be held from Trinity Anglican Church at 11 am, Tuesday, August 24, 2004. Burial will be in Maces Bay Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at Fundy Bay Senior Citizens Hall in Maces Bay. Memorial donations to Trinity Anglican Church or charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
