O'NEILL, VERNON CLIFFORD - The death of V. Clifford O'Neill, age 85, of Sussex, NB, and formerly of Belleisle Creek, NB occurred at the Sussex Health Centre, on Thursday, September 2, 2004. He was the only son of the late James and Alice (Hayes) O'Neill. He was born September 19, 1918, on the O'Neill Road. Clifford is survived by his wife Margaret (Coughlan) O'Neill, daughter; Janice O'Neill, Fredericton, sons; James, Fredericton, George and Shaolin, Toronto, and Blake, San Diego, CA, four grandchildren; Shannon and Kerri O'Neill, and Duncan and Nicholas Gillies, sisters; Marjorie Bunnell, Wards Creek, and Dorothy Eldridge, York, ME, together with several nieces and nephews. His sister Muriel predeceased him. He was a former banker, and owner of the "Shanklin Store", Belleisle Creek, for many years. Later, he was employed with the Department of Municipal Affairs. Clifford, who has been in failing health for many years, possessed a congenial personality and had a host of friends. He loved his Church, was Past Master of Zion Lodge, Sussex, and Past President of Luxor Shrine Patrol. Resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home, (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, with visiting Sunday, from 2 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex, Monday, September 6, 2004, at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial in St. Simon and St. Jude's Cemetery, Belleisle Creek, NB. www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
