AMHERST - The death of Douglas M. Bailey, age 82, of Amherst, occurred suddenly at his home on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007. Born in Doncaster, England, he was a son of the Late Fred and Evelyn (Marshall) Bailey. Immigrated to Canada with his parents at an early age, living in Mississauga, retiring to Amherst in 1992. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Canadian Army in England. He was a gifted hockey player in youth. Doug will be sadly missed by 3 sons, Fred (Maria), Amherst, Steven and Doug (Jane), both of Toronto; a step-son Brian Noiles; 4 granddaughters, Kristen, Heather( David), Nicole and Lauren; a brother, Bruce, North Bay, Ont. Twice married he was predeceased by Helen Costin, Jacqueline Noiles. He was also predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Douglas and a brother, Wilf. Doug’s remains have been entrusted into the care of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (902-667-8777). The family will receive visitors at the Furlong-Jones Chapel on Tuesday, December 27 from 11 - 11:30am with funeral service to follow at 11:30am, Rev. Patti Blundell officiating. Burial in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery in the spring.
