George Albert Morris

1920-2008 - It is with great sadness that the family of the late George Albert Morris announce his passing at the James Paton Memorial Hospital on July 3, 2008 at the age of 87. George was a member of Memorial United Church Men's Choir, Masonic Lodge Northcliffe, Boy Scouts of Canada (life member), Officer of the Naval Reserve and RSCC Windsor Sea Cadets, Exploits Valley Amateur Radio Club (VOIMB), member of the Orange Lodge (Fortune), Past member of Central Newfoundland - Visual Art Society, Founding Member of Atlantic Chapter #4 Royal Arch Masons. George retired from Canadian National Telecommunications in 1980. Predeceased by mother Mary; father Berkley; and sister Bessie. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Beulah; son Derrick (Judy) of Kamloops, British Columbia and daughter Melinda (David Anthony) of Grand Falls-Windsor. Also leaving to mourn are his grandchildren: Matthew Anthony, Amy Anthony, Angela Morris, Melissa Morris, Victoria Morris; sister Mary Woolridge; nephews: David Woolridge and Frank Woolridge; his extended family and friends especially the "Sunday Night Crowd". Rev. Howard Crooks and Rev. Royden Reynolds conducted the funeral service at the Memorial United Church on Sunday, July 6, 2008. Interment was at the Interfaith Cemetery, Grand Falls-Windsor. Pallbearers were Frank Woolridge, David Woolridge, Steve Conrod, Peter Banfield, Bruce Rose and Derek Harbin. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Stoodley, Jasper Lake Roy Pynn, Ray Sellars, John Stacey and John Moore. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jim Maidment of Central Funeral Homes.
