NORTHRUP, GLENNIE M. - The death of Glennie M. Northrup, wife of the late Walter H. S. Northrup, occurred on October 5, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Anagance Ridge, Kings Co., she was the daughter of the late William and Jeanie (Bryce) McGibbon. She was a graduate of the Provincial Normal School teaching for over 37 years in Saint John and was a member of the NB Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of Portland United Church and was a member of the I.O.D.E. Lady Moyra Poinsonby Chapter and the Beta Signa Phi. She was a volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross. She is survived by her brothers Archibald and his wife Jean of Sussex, Gordon and his wife Pauline of Anagance, her sister Eris MacIntosh of Chatham, ON, and her sixteen nieces and nephews. Her sisters Bessie Elliot, Elsie Hunt and Jean Harper predeceased her. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2004, at 11:00 AM, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the SJRH Dialysis Unit or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. www.brenansfh.com THORNTON, ALVENA - Alvena Thornton of Campobello Lodge, died peacefully on October 5, 2004. She was born in Campobello, NB and was the daughter of the late Edgar and Dora Newman and wife of the late Howard Thornton. She is survived by three sons; Donald, Burnham and Larry Mathews, two daughters; Dora Matheson and Betty Cline, one sister Vera Mathews and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Following cremation a memorial service will be held Friday at 3 pm at the North Road Baptist Church followed by burial in Head Harbour Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to A.W.
