BROWN, JOSHUA VAUGHAN - An overwhelming misfortune occurred at St. Andrews, N.B., which resulted in the drowning death of Joshua Vaughan Brown, a young man 21 years of age. Josh and a friend attempted to cross the sandbar to Ministers Island when the tide carried their vehicle into deep water. Josh was overcome with hypothermia and failed to reach the shore. His death which occurred two weeks since, has cast a gloom over a small community wherin he had worked as a part time employee at the Algonquin Hotel while enrolled as a full time student at the New Brunswick Community College. Josh was born in Petawawa, Ontario on March 2, 1983. His father, Lance Brown, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, was eventually posted to Oromocto, New Brunswick, where Josh spent most of his formative years until graduating from Oromocto High School. Josh is the son of Lance and Pam (Patterson) Brown both formerly of Saint John and now residing in Kingston, Ontario and Oromocto, respectively. Josh is also survived by one sister Rhanda Brown, one nephew, Brady Shears, maternal grandparents, Murray and Irene (Deering) Patterson, several aunts and uncles including: Robert and Roberta (Brown) Shannon, Laurence and Ann Brown, Alta (Brown) Tufts, Brian and Margo (Brown) Ellick, Hazen and Carla (Brown) Rodgers, Edward and Deborah (Patterson) Poley and Christine Palmer (John). He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Robert and Ella (Cosman) Brown and Uncle Patrick Patterson. Josh was well known for his quiet, good-natured manner and his fine sense of humour. His family and friends will dearly miss him. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, N.B. (646-2424) with visitation on Friday 2 to 4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
