Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital after a brief illness on July 10, 2008, at the age of 66 years. He is predeceased by his loving parents, Gerald and Isabella Wight. Survived by his son James Wight, Canadian Armed Forces; dear brother of Marion Wilson, Hollywood, Florida, Ruby Winsor (Steward - deceased), St. John's, Dorothy Melendy (Samuel), Mount Pearl, Sandra Bradley (Wayne - deceased), Guelph, Ontario. Much loved uncle of Karen Hughes, Linda Wilson, Valerie Coward, Dan Winsor, Gerald Winsor, Sam Melendy Jr., Susan Melendy Stark, Jolie Sousa and Wayne Bradley Jr. and their families. Gerald served in the United States Air Force while living in Florida before returning to Newfoundland. At Gerald's request, cremation has taken place. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday from 2-9 p.m. Burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation.
