McCOLLUM, DAVID ALEXANDER - age 68, of Amherst passed away Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Salisbury, New Brunswick he was a son of the late John and Mary (Ritchie) McCollum. David owned and operated his own insurance agency, David McCollum Insurance for 15 years in New Brunswick. He was a member of the School Board District 15 and a member of the Riverview Lions Club where he served as president in 1972 - 73. David moved to Nova Scotia where he was employed with the Cumberland Correctional Center as a Correctional Officer. He is survived by his wife the former Joyce (Isla) Spicer, one son Gregory (Shelley) of Sussex, N.B., two daughters Janet (Gary) Kinnear of Brookdale and Pamela McCollum of Rothsay, N.B., one brother Joseph (Norma) McCollum of Stewiacke and two sisters Anna MacIllwraith of Saint John, N.B. and Cecilia (Mike) Muscat of Sussex, N.B., grandchildren Kyle and Kendra Kinnear, Molly (MJ) McCollum and Keith Bishop and several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by a granddaughter Maggie McCollum, brother John and a sister Rosemary Nutter. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 2 p.m. from St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
