WINCHESTER, REMELDA (MEL) A. (ROSS) - Of Willie Avenue, Saint John, wife of the late Lea R. Winchester, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, November 12th, 2004. Born in Barryville, NB, she was the daughter of the late Hampford and Janie (Brideau) Ross. Mel is survived by her five sons, Eric (Christina) of Fredericton, Christopher of Saint John, Donald (Luanna Hanrahan) of Darlings Island, Stephen (Margaret) of Rothesay, and Leigh (Tracey) of Fredericton; five daughters, Lorraine (Donald) Cullins of Willow Grove, Karen (Barry) Carleton of Saint John, Susan (David) Allen of Rothesay, Ann (Anthony) Smith of Saint John, and Janie (Robert) Mote of London, Ont.; four brothers, Howard (Florence) Ross of Bathurst, Melvin (Irene) Ross of Barryville, NB, Harold Ross of Bathurst, and Hamford (Patricia) Ross of Cambridge, Ont.; one sister, Cecilia (Gary) Tasker of Grand Prairie, Alberta; seventeen grandchildren; three great granddaughters; one aunt (Julia Hachey-McTavish); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides her husband, Mel was predeceased by an infant daughter and son, and by her brother, Raymond. Mel belonged to the CWL, St. Joseph's Hospital Aux., Silver Links Seniors Club, St. Anne's Card Club, Simonds Lions Club, and the Barryville Golden Seniors Club, and will be remembered for her special talent in creating beautiful specialty and wedding cakes for her many friends and family. Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424), with visitation on Sunday from 7-9 and Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 16th, 2004 at 10 am from St. Joachim's Church.
