RING, JAMES E.- The death of James Edward Ring of 133 Metcalf Street, Saint John, husband of the late Freda I. (McCarthy) Ring, occurred on Monday, November 15, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late John William and Minnie Victoria (McKinnon) Ring. Jim graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1947. He and his family ran the boatyard at the foot of Kennedy Street in the North End, for many years and worked for the Atlantic Pilotage Authority from 1963-1978. Jim also drove taxi in the fall of 1963 and 1964 for Ed's Taxi and was a member of the #2 Fire Station Salvage Corps. He is survived by one son, J. Gary Ring of Saint John, two sisters, Patricia Hanson and Glenna Whittaker, both of Saint John, two granddaughters Tanya Dawn Ring and Candace Kathleen Ring, one aunt, Helen Morris of Island View, NB and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at 11:00 AM. Following cremation, interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
