CORA ALBERTA ALLABY

ALLABY, CORA ALBERTA - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cora Alberta Allaby of Upham. Surrounded by her loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, November 18, 2004 after a brief illness, she went to be with God. She was born in Upham on March 16, 1923 to the late William and Althea (Sherwood) Tayes. Cora was the wife of the late Percy Ruthven Allaby who predeceased her in 1960. She will be greatly missed by her two daughters Rowena Cripps (Stanley) of Upham, Wanda Black (Donel) of Saint John, her four sons William (Elinor) of Upham, Gordon (Lynne) of Hanford Brook, Curtis of Moncton and Glendon (Wanda) of Upham. Also missing her will be her three brothers Wallace (Eileen) of Upham, Austin (Theresa) of Saint John, Donald (Shirley) of Dutton, Ontario, her six sisters Doris Fortune of Rowley, Ruby Sharpe of Midland, Marcella Gillcrist of Saint John, Leona McEwen (Paul) of Salt Springs, Winnifred Colpitts (Guy) of Picadilly and Norma Mallory (Willard) of Sussex. Her 12 grandchildren and her 19 great-grandchildren will miss her many knitted mittens, hats, socks and scarves and her special love for all of them. She also leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, three brothers Wesley, Alfred and Reginald, sister-in-law Nora Tayes and brothers-in-law George Fortune, Grant Sharpe and Douglas Gillcrist. Cora belonged to the Hammond River Valley Seniors and St. Peter's A.C.W. Cora enjoyed her roles as mother, grandparent and friend. She was always there for you during good times as well as bad. Cora loved to knit, sew and quilt. She completed her last quilt in October of this year. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Monday, 2:00pm at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Upham, with Rev Philip Pain officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Memorials to the Canadian Paraplegic Association would be appreciated. Visiting 4-8pm Saturday and 2-4pm and 7-9pm Sunday. Online donations and condolences may be made at: www.reidsfh.com
