AMHERST - George Robert Corney age 67 of Amherst passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, NS. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late F. LeRoy and Elizabeth (Briggs) Corney. George lived all his life in Amherst and in his earlier years worked for Goodwin's Supermarket and later had a career in the trucking industry. George is survived by his loving wife the former Carol Morris, three daughters Elizabeth (Tim) Bugley of Nanaimo, BC; Carol (Mark) Steeves of Wood Point, NB; and Laura Corney of Amherst; two sons James Corney of Amherst and Patrick (Crystal) Corney of Westcock, NB; sister Thelma (Darrell) Ells of Saskatchewan; numerous grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter Victoria in infancy and brother Frederick in infancy. His remains are resting in Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Captain Jamie Hillier officiating.Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring.
