ALEXANDER, MARY CONSTANCE - Mary Alexander (Curtis) formerly of 10 Buena Vista Avenue, died peacefully in the embrace of her family on Sunday, November, 28, 2004 at the Halifax home of her loving daughter, Mrs. Linda Alexander, after determinedly facing Alzheimer's Disease. Mary was born in Sydney, NS, the daughter of Jessie and Doane Curtis. She was a graduate of Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro, NS and Holy Angel High School in Sydney, NS and later taught in the Nova Scotia school system. She was a member of the Saint John Union Club, an avid bridge player and was known as a very capable and competitive bowler. Her most cherished memories were spending time with her extended family in Ingonish, NS and traveling the world with her husband in the company of friends. Mary is survived by her daughter: Linda (Charles Leonard) Alexander and Mrs. Nancy (Jim) Middlemiss of Toronto, ON, her sisters: Mrs. Marjorie (Charles) Alexander of Rye, NY, Mrs. Bette (Patrick) Connolly of Dartmouth, NS, Mrs. Marilyn (Clarence) Skinner or Mississauga, ON; and brother Kenneth Curtis of Halifax, NS, two grandchildren, Andrew and Jeffrey Leonard of Halifax, NS, and many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Alexander, former president and owner of McMillan Press Ltd., and brothers, Doane, Warner and William. Special thanks are extended to all those who supported and assisted Mary during her illness, including Elizabeth Chase and most recently, Hedy Gavel, Erin Mahar and Kelly Legaarden, who were instrumental in providing her with exceptional care during the last segment of her journey. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, December 2, 2004 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 3, 2004 at 12:00 pm, at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Dufferin Row, Saint John. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Romero House or the Alzheimer Society.
