JACK (JOHN) FRANCIS GALLANT
GALLANT, JACK (JOHN) FRANCIS - The death of Jack (John) F. Gallant of Ridgewood Veteran's Hospital (Liberty Lane) husband of the late Leona (Thibodeau) Gallant of Saint John West occurred at Ridgewood on December 22, 2004. Jack was born in Puisville, PEI and was the oldest son of the late Daniel John Gallant and Isabella (Blanchard) (Gallant) Muttart of Puisville PEI. Jack is survived by four daughters Gertrude (Colby) McLellan, Diana M. (John) Miller, Linda (Gary) Johnson all of Saint John and Mona Gallant and Fred Calloway of Grand Bay/Westfield and one son Danny (Susan) Gallant of Saint John West. He is survived by one sister Gladys (James) Clowes of Dartmouth, NS and one brother Robert (Bob) (Wanda) Gallant of Saint John West, 14 grandchildren and at least 24 great grandchildren. Jack worked for local 273 for over 30 years and 2 years as head of a gang crew of 12 men. He came over from PEI at 22 years of age in 1939 to join the Canadian Army. He served overseas with the Canadian Army, Hamilton Rifles, seeing action in numerous countries and was wounded twice in action. He was a life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a member of Branch # 69 before joining Branch # 2. Visitation at CASTLE "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John West (634-1701) Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 Noon Friday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Following the burial a reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the funeral home 7pm Thursday.
