HANSEN, CELIA JOY - Celia Joy Hansen, 89, of Grand Falls, died on Monday, January 3, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon, PA. She was the wife of the late Ejvind Hansen. Born January 23, 1915, Mrs. Hansen was the daughter of early settlers of Grand Falls, the late John West and Katherine (Michaud) West. The West family originally came to New Brunswick in the 1800s from New Hampshire to expand a vast lumbering project, purchasing land extending from the United States border, following the St. John River across the C.P.R. to where the Trans-Canada Highway now goes. Mrs. Hansen lived in Grand Falls all her life, was educated there, and was a lifetime member of the United Church of Canada in Grand Falls. She was the sister of the late Sadie (West) Bennett and Lillian (West) Prescott; she was also predeceased by five brothers: Guy, Ralph, Elgin, Calvin and Porter. Mrs. Hansen was the mother of the late Kenneth Hansen and great grandmother of the late Jessica Pelletier. She leaves two daughters, Sandra Shaw (husband Donald) of Fort Worth, TX and Gayle Bixler (husband Calvin) of Lebanon, PA; and one son Allan Hansen (wife Donna) of Slave Lake, Alberta. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Resting at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls with visiting hours Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Her funeral will be held Saturday, January 8th at 11 a.m. from St. Andrew's United Church, Grand Falls, with Rev. Ellen Flemming officiating. Interment will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
