HONOURABLE LOUIS J. ROBICHAUD

ROBICHAUD, HONOURABLE LOUIS J. - It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Honourable Louis J. Robichaud, PC, CC, ONB, QC, Commander of the Legion of Honor, former Senator of Canada and former Premier of New Brunswick. He passed away Thursday January 6, 2005 at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital at the age of 79 years. Born October 21, 1925 in Saint-Antoine-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Amedée Robichaud and Eugénie "Annie" Richard. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline (Clément) Robichaud, a daughter Monik Robichaud (Jamie Longpre) of Ottawa; two sons: Paul of Ottawa, René (Karen) of Cincinnati; a step-son Stéphane Grignon of Ottawa; four sisters: Irène Melanson (late Philippe), Berthe Richard (Aquila), and Rita Maillet (late Hector) all of Saint-Antoine and Antonine, Savoie (Alphonse) of Bouctouche; two brothers: Joseph (Léa) of Fitchburg, MA, Roger (Germaine) of Bouctouche; three grandchildren: Christopher, Nicole, Adam. He is predeceased by a son, Jean-Claude; his first wife, Lorraine (Savoie) Robichaud; three brothers: Émile (Éveline, Moncton), Zenon (Marie, Fitchburg) and Yvon (Béatrice, Fitchburg). Remains resting Monday from 3 - 9 p.m. at Louis-J-Robichaud CEPS Building, Université de Moncton Campus. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday January 11, 2004 at Our Lady of Assumption Cathedral, Moncton. A reception will follow the mass at Louis-J-Robichaud CEPS Building. The funeral will also be broadcast on radio and television. At the request of the family, memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
